月曜日は、ハロウィンの日だったので、放課後ホストファミリーと一緒に近所の家をたくさん周りました。五時から歩き始めて、家に帰ってきたのは八時近くでした。たくさんの人からお菓子をもらい、消防隊の人からもお菓子をもらったりして、数えてみると、なんと180個近くのお菓子をもらっていました。友達が家に来たり、みんな楽しそうにお菓子を食べながら話していました。

木曜日の朝、ホストファミリーの事情で、学校に送ってもらう方の家まで歩いていると、まだ朝日が出始めたくらいの、すごく綺麗な空を見ることができて、朝から気持ちがよかったです。その日の帰り道、小雪が降り始めて、数時間後には雪だるまが作れるほど積り、近くの公園に行ってホストファミリーとお隣さんと一緒に遊びました。

土曜日、Boston pizzaという店に行き、夜ご飯を食べに行きました。食べ終わった後、ゲームセンターに行き、たくさん楽しみました。海外というようなゲーム機がたくさんあって、面白かったです。

Hello Japanese friends!
My name is Kiera and I am Rei's homestay mother. I just wanted to take a minute to write my own journal entry to give all of you a little idea of what it is like from our side as homestay parents. We hope that in doing this, it will make each of you DREAM BIG and realize that the world is a BIG place waiting to be discovered!
To start off, we want to say that we won the lottery in getting Rei as our homestay daughter. She is truly special and amazing. We are so very lucky. Rei is so happy, loving, and hard working. She has become one of us and we honestly will be so sad to have her go home!
With coming in to our home, I am sure that there are aspects that Rei would change, but for the most part I think that she is enjoying her time in Canada and says that she LOVES it‼She is learning what it means to be BUSY and ON THE GO! We are a loud and busy house with four little kids. My husband and I are both school teachers. I teach Grade 1 and my husband teaches Grade 8. We love kids! We have four kids, two daughters and two sons. Farrah is 9 and loves gymnastics and dance. London is 7 and loves gymnastics, dance and BMX. Von is 4 and is learning his letters and loves to do BMX and play subway surfer! Blue is almost 2 and is busy, busy, busy always getting in to everything and bugging Rei and his siblings. At the end of the day, they do all really love him though! Ha, ha!
We love being outside and Rei has jumped right in. We also like to live life to the fullest and try and jam pack our life with fun outings and happenings all the time. We have introduced Rei to the true Canadian experience. From hikes, to fall fairs, to pumpkin patches, Halloween, and high diving boards. She loves it all and doesn't want to leave!
Rei is learning to take risks in speaking more English. She speaks with the kids and attends her studies and works hard knowing the importance of hard work and dedication. She is an outstanding student! We are so happy to see how much more English she is able to speak and feel comfortable and confident in speaking.
Rei says that the highlights of the trip so far have been CANADIAN COOKIES, SWIMMING, SCHOOL CAMP, RIDES AT THE FALL FAIR, DRESSING UP FOR HALLOWEEN AND THE GLOW RUN, TRAMPOLINE, GLOW STICKS, STARS IN THE NIGHT SKY, NEW FAMILY, and SHOPPING!
Yesterday Rei got a huge surprise when all of a sudden it started to SNOW!!!! In hours, the ground was covered in a thick blanket of white snow. We all suited up in snow gear and headed out where we were able to make a giant snowman and take Rei sledding for the first time! It was lots of fun! She had a giant smile from ear to ear and was amazed by the beauty of the snow!
One day, we hope to find ourselves on that side of the world and perhaps we will have the opportunity of meeting some of you special people in Rei's life. She is an amazing girl who is going to accomplish greatness in her life. We love her and she has truly become a part of our family.
I would like to send you all a giant Canadian hug and say thank you for sending us Rei. Our kiddos love each and every day and look forward to all our adventures with our new Japanese daughter and sister!

日本の皆さん、こんにちは。
私はレイのホームステイ先の母親、キラといいます。ホームステイの親として、皆さんにどんな感じなのかを少しでも知ってもらえたらと思い、自分の日記を書くことで、皆さんが大きな夢を持ち、世界は発見されるのを待っている大きな場所であることを実感していただければと思います。
まず初めに、私たちはホームステイ先の娘としてレイを迎えることができ、宝くじに当たったようなものだと言いたいと思います。彼女は本当に特別で、素晴らしい存在です。私たちは本当にラッキーでした。レイはとても幸せで、愛情深く、そして一生懸命です。彼女は私たちの仲間になり、正直言って、彼女が家に帰るのはとても悲しいことです。
私たちの家に来て、レイが変えるべき点はあると思いますが、ほとんどの場合、彼女はカナダでの時間を楽しんでいると思いますし、大好きだと言っています！彼女は忙しさと移動の意味を学んでいます。我が家は小さな子供が四人いて、うるさくて忙しい家です。夫と私はともに学校の教師です。私は一年生、夫は八年生を教えています。私たちは子供が大好きです。私たちには、二人の娘と二人の息子の計四人の子供がいます。Farrahは９歳で、体操とダンスが大好きです。Londonは七歳で、体操とダンスとBMXが大好きです。Vonは四歳で、文字を覚え、BMXとサブウェイサーファーが大好きです。Blueはもうすぐ２歳になりますが、いつも忙しく、忙しく、忙しく、何にでも首を突っ込み、レイや兄、姉達を困らせています。でも、一日の終わりには、みんなBlueのことが大好きになります。

レイはもっと英語を話すというリスクを負うことを学んでいます。子供たちと話、勉強に励み、努力とひたむきさの大切さを知っているのです。彼女は優秀な生徒です。私たちは、彼女がより多くの英語を話すことができ、自信をもってより多くの英語を話すことができるようになったことをとてもうれしく思っています。
これまでのカナダでのハイライトは、カナダのクッキー、水泳、学校のキャンプ、秋のフェアでの乗馬、ハロウィンの仮装とグロウスティック、夜空の星、新しい家族、そしてショッピングだと話してくれました。
昨日、突然雪が降ってきて、レイはとても驚きました!!!数時間後には、地面が真っ白な雪で覆われました。私たちは巨大な雪ダルマを作ったり、レイを初めてソリに乗せたりしました。とても楽しかったです。雪の美しさに驚き、満面の笑みを浮かべていました。
いつか、私たちは地球の裏側に行き、レイの人生の中で特別な存在である皆さんにお会いする機会を持ちたいと思っています。彼女は素晴らしい女の子で、その人生において偉大なことを成し遂げようとしています。私たちは彼女を愛し、本当に私たちの家族の一員になりました。
私たちは皆さんにカナダの大きなハグを送り、レイを私たちに送ってくれてありがとうと言いたいです。私たちの子供たちは毎日が大好きで、新しい日本人の娘、姉として一緒に冒険することを楽しみにしています。
